NICTA Commemorates PNG’s 50th with a Gala Dinner

Monday 6th October .2025, Port Moresby. The National ICT Authority concluded its week-long activities commemorating Papua New Guinea’s 50th Anniversary with a Gala dinner last Saturday.
Highlight of the night was the launch of NICTA’s refreshed logo and rebrand.
More than 200 guests from the industry, government , former and present CEOs and Secretaries , heads of institutions, past and current Board members and industry leaders , development partners and individuals who have contributed to the development of telecommunications and ICT in general were hosted to a night of entertainment and spectacular fireworks.
Acting ICT Minister , Hon.Peter Tsailmlli Jnr’s statement delivered by Secretary for PNG Department of Information and Communications Technology Steven Matainaho that evening paid tribute to all leaders past and present who played pivitol roles in the progress of the ICT sector . He said all advances in the sector made through the years were made possibile through consistant government vision and leadership.
The Acting Minister commended efforts made by NICTA and the Department of ICT in recent years to remain active and significant players in the region and globally.
A challeng for all for the next 50 years was to push for Universal Connectivity. “We must impart digital skills and innovation to our people . Train youth to create apps, platforms businesses for PNG and be innovative in ICT space and beyond”.
